Every decision we make at faju.art comes back to the same question: does this make the candle better? Soy wax answers that twice over — for the candle and for the environment.
Here's what that means in practice.
It burns cleaner.
Soy wax produces significantly less soot than other waxes. That means cleaner air in your home, no black residue on your walls or vessels, and a purer scent experience from start to finish. What you smell is the fragrance — nothing else.
It burns longer.
Soy wax has a lower melting point, which means it burns more slowly and evenly. A soy candle will outlast its equivalent in most other waxes. You get more hours, more scent, more value. It's a better burn — and that matters.
It holds fragrance well.
The composition of soy wax allows it to bind with fragrance oils effectively, releasing scent steadily throughout the burn rather than in a single overwhelming hit at the start. The result is a consistent, room-filling throw that improves as the wax pool develops.
It's plant-based and renewable.
Soy wax is derived from soybean oil — a natural, renewable resource. It's biodegradable, it cleans up easily with soap and warm water, and it doesn't carry the environmental weight of petroleum-based alternatives. It suits the vessel.
Our candles are container candles — designed to be burned in the vessel they arrive in. Soy wax is well suited to container burning. It adheres well to glass, melts evenly to the edges, and performs consistently from the first burn to the last. No tunnelling. No wasted wax on the sides. However a good first burn is essential.
The honest answer.
We use soy wax because it performs better and sits more comfortably with our values. It's not a marketing decision — it's a material one. The candle burns cleaner, lasts longer, and carries the fragrance the way it's supposed to.
